Fabric Guide Featured

Trust us, we know how you feel! When we started this venture, we understood that there would be a lot of information and new things to learn. While deciding on the stock for our store, we learned the qualities of the dresses we were bringing in. We found these fabrics most common among the ones we brought in:

Tulle:

Tulle is a delicate, lightweight, and sheer fabric often used to create ethereal and whimsical garments like dresses and skirts. It has a net-like appearance, resembling a cluster of soft, fine meshes woven together. The sheer, airy quality of tulle lends an elegant, feminine touch to any piece, making it a popular choice for special occasions. Tulle can also be layered to add volume and dimension, giving dresses and skirts a dreamy, playful feel.

Crepe:

Crepe is a fabric defined by its three-dimensional, textured surface and fluid drape. Originally made from silk, cotton, or wool, crepe is now also produced using synthetic fibers like rayon and polyester. Despite its slightly wrinkled appearance, crepe has a luxurious feel and beautifully flattering drape, making it a versatile choice for both casual and formal attire.

Mikado:

Mikado is a smooth, shiny fabric, also known as "Japanese silk," made from a blend of silk and polyester. The unique weaving technique used to create Mikado results in a crisp, structured texture that holds its shape well, making it ideal for tailored garments. Designers often choose Mikado for its ability to add an elegant, refined look to outfits, from sophisticated evening gowns to tailored blazers. Its versatility and durability make Mikado a popular fabric for creating timeless, long-lasting pieces.

Satin:

Satin is a luxurious, smooth fabric characterized by its glossy finish on one side and dull finish on the other. Made from silk, polyester, or a blend, satin's distinctive sheen and soft feel give it an air of sophistication. While satin may require special care to maintain its shine, the effort is well worth it, as the fabric drapes beautifully on the body and elevates any casual or formal outfit with its polished look and feel.

Organza:

Organza is a lightweight, sheer fabric with a delicate, crisp texture and subtle sheen. Made from silk or synthetic fibers, organza is known for its ability to hold its shape, making it ideal for creating ruffles, gathers, and other intricate details. This airy, ethereal material adds a touch of sophistication and elegance, whether used as an overlay on a bridal gown or as a delicate trim on a summer dress. Organza's versatility allows it to be incorporated in a variety of ways, from voluminous sleeves to glamorous accents, making it a timeless fabric that never goes out of style.

Chiffon:

Chiffon is a luxurious, elegant fabric known for its smooth, shiny finish. Made from tightly woven silk or synthetic fibers, Chiffon drapes beautifully and feels incredibly soft against the skin. Its lustrous surface gives it a sophisticated appearance, with a satin-like shiny side and a matte dull side. Silk Chiffon is more expensive and delicate, but also softer and a better insulator.

Lace:

Lace is a delicate, intricate textile that adds an elegant, feminine touch to any garment. Made by weaving or knitting thread in an open, web-like pattern, lace is often used for embellishments on clothing such as dresses, blouses, and lingerie. The lightweight, sheer fabric is known for its ornate floral or geometric designs, creating a romantic and timeless aesthetic. Lace can be found in a variety of colors, textures, and styles to suit different preferences and occasions.

Chantilly:

Originating in the 17th century in Chantilly, France, Chantilly lace is renowned for its intricate floral patterns and fine craftsmanship. This type of lace fabric is commonly used in bridal gowns and formal evening wear due to its romantic and timeless appeal. Whether you're looking to create a vintage-inspired look or simply want to elevate your wardrobe with a touch of glamor, Chantilly lace is the perfect choice for adding a delicate, ethereal element to your ensemble. When deciding which fabric would suit you best, be sure to consider both your comfortability and and aesthetic.
